Users strike back at Ubisoft because of DRM
august 23rd, 2011. Published under Gaming, Software. No Comments.
Ubisoft is, like many other large game companys, very focused on protecting their games with one or another DRM software. As for the game From Dust, this is a little special thing. The game was first announced to be without Ubisoft’s “always-on-DRM” what so ever, but prior to release Ubisoft changed their minds and added their dreadfull “always-on-DRM”.
This resulted in many pre-ordering a nonDRM game, ending up with a DRM loaded title that many had problems getting to launch properly. People on STEAM started getting refunds because of this ( hitting their pockets ) and soon after Ubisoft followed up by offering moneyback as well.
So, why is this worth writing about?
It is because Ubisoft gave in to the masses, and just yesterday announced that an upcoming patch will remove the DRM from From Dust to PC.
Battlefield 3 Alpha Test Part 3
august 1st, 2011. Published under Gaming. 2 Comments.
The Battlefield 3 Alpha test has ended, with that the http://battlelog.battlefield.com/ site was taken down as well.
They got loads of feedback from most participants.
It was a pleasure while it lasted, and eventhough its only hours ago, I already crave more BF3 blood! I hope they leave friends added in battlelog stay connected, once it opens ago for the open beta, as well as when the final game is released :)
Seems lige 25th october 2011 is a VERY long time away. Then again, the open beta thats coming later this summer/early fall will hopefully take of the edge ;)
I asked a DICE guy early this morning, when they were going to shut down the alpha, and this is what he replied.
Battlefield 3 Alpha Test

thx to a guy on a danish gamer forum, Im now partaking in the Battlefield 3 Alpha test. Its covered in a nice NDA wrapping, not allowing me to show screenshots or anything from within Battlefield 3 and/or Battlelog, which is the FPS equivilant of Need For Speeds Autolog. It lets you interconnect with you friends, launch the game, matchmaking, stats etc. via the browser.
The NDA can be found here, for thoose who care :)
There not much I can say, but i will say that my frist impression is that considering its an Alpha, its living up to everything i hoped. The “BF-Feel” is still there, i was afraid it would be CODified, but thankfully not. The whole browser intergration … well, I hope its just a Alpha test thing, I would prefer taht you were able to do both (the browser and from in-game).
The Alpha is pushing my rig, a bit .. CPU running around 70ish% and GFX around 90ish % as it is. Its not possible to change any gfx settings in the alpha, but it looks very cool, and runs fine in 1920×1080 on my 27″ monitor.
