Project X
the other day i was surfing around various abandonwarez sites, and suddenly found my self on https://secure.team17.com/ where i found this awesome classic which i remembered playing on my Amiga 1200 somewhat 15 years ago!
I decided, what the hell, even though shipping cost more than the game, i needed to own an original copy of Project X, i remember the game for its insanely nice graphics ( at least it was 15 years ago :) ) and for its awesome soundtrack of synthesized music.
So, today was a smashing day, as postal services arrived with the long awaited package :)
Thermalright Ultra-120
Well, in short, i decided to go to a more silent way of cooling my CPU, since my old intel stock fan startede making quite a bit of noise when i fully used my CPU.
Anyways, i ordred a Ultra-120 from overclockers.co.uk since no danish retail stores had any home at the moment. Below youll find some pictures from the installment :)
So .. was it worth the money? Indeed .. the 19db from the Papst is nothing compared to the 45db or so the intel stock fan could produce. Also the idle temprature for the intel stock cooler was around 47 degrees celcius, now its more like 38. And working temprature with a closed case ( no air ventilation in it at all atm.=/ ) is still lower than the intel stock ever was :) Im very happy with it :)
Even more Hardware :D
So, i bought some more hardware, nothing i could not live without, but things that i just wanted :D
So, what did i buy ? Well, i bought a new Harddrive for my server, it was a 500 GB WD Raid Edition drive, RAID edition, because they are meant to run 24/7 like my FTP does :) I Also felt like i had to have a TV Card, i have been wanting one of thoose for a long time, but now i finally have a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1300MCE, and its worth every cent :)
Despite the fact i just bought a used Logitech diNovo desktop set from a coworker, i decided to buy the new Logitech diNovo Edge, and that is a best buy as well, its a fantastic keyboard :) To go with it, i decided to finally get rid of my Logitech MX510 so i bought a Logitech G5 Laser mouse as well :) And since u need a proper mouse pad i bought a fUNC surface1030 Soft mouse pad as well.
While i was in this spend money mode, i also replaced my old no name DVD Drive in my computer, with a Pioneer DVR-112D CD/DVD Burner/Reader, it burns even dual layers, and i cost almost nothing :)
So … all i need is a printer, and i am set. Thats why i just ordered Canon PIXMA iP2500 printer :D
Vista, widescreen and speakers!
I finally got Windows Vista installed, actually i did that last Friday. I just have not had the chance (read time) to write anything more than one line, so i decided not to. Vista, well i guess you could write several pages on first impressions, thoughts and suggestions to changes… if you wanted to, I wont, simply because i actually like it. The only problem i have had with it so far was when i was trying to install Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.
I went to http://www.adobe.com/ and downloaded the 32bit Vista version of the adobe acrobat reader version 8 and tried to install it, i kept getting the error about my temp file was either full or i did not have the correct permissions. I even tried running the file as an administrator on my 72 GB system drive with 55 GB free disk space, without any luck. I ended up copying the files the installer temporarily unpacked (and again removed when pressing OK to the error screen) to another drive, and ran it from there. And suddenly there were no problems, it just worked…
My good old faithful HP L1925 19″ monitor had to leave the party .. at least so i decided :) I did not know which one to buy next, until i came to think about whenever i saw some of my friends having wide screen monitors, i kind of envied them. At the same time, i was a bit cheap as in, i wanted the best, but did not want to pay the price. So i read around a bit and ended up looking at the Samsung 226BW, which is a 22″ wide screen monitor thats pretty much just .. brilliant!
I also decided, that since i know have such a nice monitor, and i just cleaned a bit up in my office/computer room. I needed some nice sound system so i can enjoy watching DVDs on my wide screen monitor (while the girlfriend camps the TV for just another reality show) with some really descent sound, instead of having my Sennheiser P160 headphones glued to my ears all the time. I decided to order the Creative Inspire T6060 system, which according to Klavs, should be worth every cent :)
